ABOUT

How the idea comes up

In my childhood, dolls occupied a great deal of space. Playing with dolls was my favorite game. I stayed for hours and assembled  the improvised and playful “doll houses” in my parents' houses and during the days  of the most incredible vacation at my maternal grandparents' house.

I had several dolls that I usually got as a Christmas present. Dolls that I had a super zeal, played a lot, but they were taken care of. I remember my mother washing and cleaning my dolls, ironing the dresses,  sewing flowers and bows or new clothes for the dolls. She taught me to take care of my toys, and my maternal grandmother  knitting or crocheting clothes for my dolls. My grandfather restoring toys and my father fixing some  of our toys. Susi dolls were always my favorites, I traveled playfully with the dolls. I had a suitcase with several clothes, some bought and others made by my mother  and my maternal grandmother. This collection full of memories and overflowing with love  went through a tragedy.  A fire in my parents' house, where the toys were kept, destroyed practically the entire collection. Being an adult myself, I haven't fully recovered from the loss of so many  elements of precious memories.  In  November 2020,  I found out that maybe  it was possible to reconstruct somehow. I start to search (I define myself  as a researcher who collects) and I find out,  (re) memo.  I talk to collectors  and collectors,  stories through orality are also teaching me.  And every day I learn. Some share their learnings, others not so much. I also notice some misinformation about cultural heritage, collections, collections and other topics (such as “rarity”). And I'm listening to stories, memories full of riches. So, based on research in several fields, I walk through the process of (re)construction and  (re) memorizing the people who are the basis of a project that I intend to turn it into a physical exhibition  itinerant in different spaces. A physical exhibition, through which,  people can see  dolls and other childhood objects, and  thus  (re)remember the child that exists in each one of us.
